In the south of the Mecklenburg Lake District,
on loamy sandy soils of the terminal moraine,
is the breeding station Niehoff in Bütow.
Since 1991 we have been successfully breeding, propagating and marketing starch potatoes in the former VEG breeding station in Bütow.
As a recognised health resort, the Bütow location offers
excellent conditions for the successful propagation of healthy seed potatoes. The particularly valuable highest stages are kept in the laboratory as meristems and then propagated in our own greenhouses.
Our breeding focus is on the multi-resistant
potato varieties, e.g. against a broad spectrum of different pathotypes of potato cancer.
Close cooperation with European breeding companies has resulted in successful varieties in the most important potato regions
available on the market.
In more than 2000 test plots we are constantly looking for
for new arable and plant cultivation solutions
for the cultivation of potatoes and seed cereals.
